The latest transfer gossip, rumours and damned lies…
Yuri Zhirkov to Liverpool
Chelsea have been interested in the ‘Russian Ronaldinho’ for some time, but The Liverpool Daily Post are suggesting Rafa could jump in with a €17m offer.
The Spoiler truth-o-meter: Yes, Liverpool are after a left-sided fullback, but for some reason we think Guus Hiddink will have more sway over the young Russian’s future.
David Villa to Manchester City
Since Arsenal have insinuated an intention to replace Adebayor with Roque Santa Cruz, Manchester City have lost interest and once again turned their attention to Euro 2008 sensation David Villa. They were quoted a reasonable asking price of £128m in January, which has now been reduced to a paltry £35m.
The Spoiler truth-o-meter: Valencia will have to sell either David Villa or David Silva to relieve some of their eye-watering debt. If los Xotos know what’s good for them, they’ll do what City say.
Antonio Valencia to Manchester Utd
Steve Bruce is resigned to losing his Ecuadorian midfielder:
“At the moment he is our player but we all know that if one of the big clubs comes and offers enough, then of course he will go.”
The Daily Star say Manchester Utd lead the pack, with a potential £16m bid.
The Spoiler truth-o-meter: Valencia has been linked with the Red Devils for over a year and now a move seems inevitable.
