Former Barca boss is well aware of the Argentinian’s limitations
Terry Venables, as quoted in yesterday’s Daily Mail:
‘If it does come down to Messi against Ronaldo, well, Messi is one of the best players in the world, but give me Ronaldo. Messi is wonderful on the right but Ronaldo is terrific on the right, the left and through the middle as well. He also scores goals with his head, which Messi couldn’t do even if they put a top hat on him.

Messi is the best player in the world. I’ve been saying that for about 6 months and last night’s game just confirms it! And as for Messi scoring with his cabeza- NEVER!!! (sarcasm…)

Raymond: You see that thing whistling past your left ear? There it goes again? No?
Oh well, that was what we call “the point” :)

To paraphrase Sir Alan:
“Raymond - you’re flittered!”

I loved it how Ronaldo believed last night really was some kind of ‘best player in the world’ competition. Every time he got the ball he was looking to shoot and his selfish play didn’t do Man U any favours.
In contrast Messi linked up really well with Xavi and Iniesta and Barcelona’s overall team benefitted.
Anyway, for my money the best player is Iniesta. Forget skills and tricks, his passing and movement is so intelligent and you just cannot tackle him.

tbh ronaldo was the only united player with any fight, even if he wasn’t on song

chaps chaps chaps, how can you look beyond Gerrard for the worlds best player, he can do everything!
11 Gerrards vs. 11 Ronaldo or Messi’s?!
Point made.

Ronaldo is hardly the World’s Best Player. Messi is way classier than him.
Ronnie’s behavior reminded me of Portugal’s behavior in the World Cup 2006 against the Dutch.

in my opinion, messi is like ronaldo, without the bullshit. for example, messi got fouled, and still tried to carry on playing before the ref blew. ronaldo gets fouled, and has a hissy fit for 5 minutes, before commiting a ridiculus barge and earning himself a yellow card

How is it that we are talking about Ronaldo being this year’s world’s best player when this season, he wasn’t even the best player in his league, or even the best player in his team?

im kop fan and i believe (tho i hate to admit it) Ronaldo is the best player in the world he is more the complete player in comparison to messi, who is a wonderful player with the ball, but without it he is another berbatov.
Tho some might find my next statement might seem bias., i believe gerrard vs ronaldo is a better rivalry
