Chelsea-bound manager’s boots have been filled

Carlo Ancelotti and Leonardo

Milanese newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport and Spanish daily Marca are reporting that Brazilian World Cup winner Leonardo will be officially unveiled as the new manager of AC Milan on Monday.

The 39-year-old - who played for Milan for four seasons and is currently a Technical Director at the club - will take charge from next week, as owner Silvio Berlusconi wants a manager who “knows the Rossoneri”.

If Leonardo is indeed announced as Milan boss on Monday (the day after the Serie A season ends) it can be safely assumed that Carlo Ancelotti will simultaneously be unveiled at Chelsea.

Congratulations to the former Match of the Day World Cup pundit for elbowing his way into such a high profile role, despite not having any previous experience or coaching badges. By means of a tribute, we present his finest moment after the jump…

loving the american commentators…’and that’s an elbow to the SIDE of his FACE.’ no joke captain obvious.

methinks berlusconi might be wanting a pep of his own after wednesday night (or however much of it he was awake for). maybe he should first consider the other end of the spectrum and think about how well alan shearer has done this season.

doesyourmotherknow: So you don’t have a side to your face then?

and what’s a joke captain? Wlliam Gallas? (I think you mean “caption”)

Mike: no, my face is two-dimensional.

i was pointing out the commentator’s capacity for stating the obvious. as in, him feeling the need to state dramatically that that was an elbow to the side of his face when we can see quite clearly on the screen that the elbow hit the side of the guy’s face. hence the statement ‘no joke captain obvious’. that would be ‘no joke’ as in ‘you’re not joking’ (this is a device commonly known as sarcasm) and ‘captain obvious’ referring to the commentator. along the same lines as ‘no s*** sherlock’ if you will.

so in short, no, I don’t think I do mean ‘caption’ actually, and if I did that sentence wouldn’t make any sense. forgive me for being patronising but you get what you give.
