Oh great, now Charlize Theron’s having an Ireland pop

Beautiful - yes. Funny - kind of

Charlize Theron

Having been the butt of those terribly hurtful jokes about Englishmen, Irishmen and Scotsmen hiding in boxes then one of them saying “potatoes” for so many years, old Ireland wounds might well have been ripped open by Charlize Theron yesterday.

The beautiful actress - who is South African, by the way - was rehearsing her part in tommorow’s World Cup draw, when she “hilariously” pulled the “Ireland” ball out of the bowl instead of France. Whether people gripped their stomachs and rolled around laughing, no one is entirely sure.

Fifa general secretary, Jerome Valcke, confirmed the gag:

“Yes she did, but it was only a joke.”

The World Cup draw will take place tomorrow at 17.15. Theron will be on her best behaviour. Hopefully.

Hey, she was joking with FIFA, not having a go at
the Irish. Irish news sites are reporting it as a bit of fun in our favour. Since she has an Irish boyfriend, it’s being seen as a little bit of support for the ‘gallant’ losers!!!
She’s made a whole lot of new fans on the Emerald Isle because of this.

I never liked her and I think she’s a closet racist. I remember she told People magazine in the US way back when that she left South Africa after apartheid ended because as a white actress she would have no opportunities what with the blacks in power. She was a nobody then so there was no hue and cry but I wish somebody would dig it up now and rub it in her lying, hypocritical face.

Her best friend is will smith and jada. She is not racist, she was just stating that because of affirmative action which was occuring heavily in south africa at the time, it was harder for whites to get work initially. its not racist. its just fact.

    rosie, considerably dumb you are.

and, it was a pop at france and fifa not ireland. her bf is irish.

You’ve got this one all wrong. Theron knows her stuff, has an Irish boyfriend and was making a point on behalf of Ireland, not against them.

Rosie, you ever been to SA? Fact is, whites there are slowly being forced out, and SA is slowly becoming a third rate country.

Stop talking out your arse, woman.

She did it in favor of the Irish, not to take a stab at them. This article is REDICULOUS. Whoever wrote it is an idiot.

“Having been the butt of those terribly hurtful jokes about Englishmen”

Very annoying article from an Irish and Scottishpoint of view. Shame on the writer. Good reason for those jokes.

She was supporting ireland. She also made a comment during the actual draw when France were drawn. Something like ” Sometimes saying nothing is enough” Whether it was because it was a shitty draw for South africa or a Pop at the cheating french I dont know. I hope the latter!
    C’mon south africa!
