Pretend Hiddink is Wenger, and might this be the future?
It hasn’t quite happened for Roman Pavlyuchenko at Spurs, and the consensus seems to be that he’ll be off very very soon. And what with Robbie Keane rumoured to be Celtic-bound, the Tottenham striker roster may look slightly less potent come the New Year.
But the big news filtering in - mainly via friends of the site Football Fancast - is that Tottenham’s unhappy Russian might be considering a move known in the trade as “The Sol Campbell Shuffle“. And why not?
Arsenal need a man up front to stand still and smash them in, whilst the rest of the team performs their usual football/ballet. He was magnificent just over a year ago in Euro 2008. He could play in the Champions League.
Plus - and this could sway it - he’d be teaming up with his old pal Arshavin.
Not completely out of the question, but would Wenger honestly be remotely interested?
Let us know your thoughts on the matter with a comment…

He’s 6′2″
He used to wear white
He’s shite all over the pitch
If Wenger signs him
I’ll move to London
And be Tony Cascarino’s bitch.

See what we’re reduced to Adrian?
This kind of story where suddenly Arsenal takes Tottenham’s garbage.
Wenger needs to start admitting which players he’s interested in or before you know it we’ll be linked to Kevin C. Davies.

“…any Arsenal fan would have welcomed Pavlyuchenko with open arms…”
I wouldn’t.

But I thought Arshavin hated him!
Anytime AA23 is asked “have you been out with Zhirkov, Pav?”, he always goes “NO!!”

Why are Arsenal fans so ignorantly self-righteous? The fact is that after Euro 2008 and before his spell at Tottenham, any Arsenal fan would have welcomed Pavlyuchenko with open arms.
Now all of a sudden Arsenal fans have changed their mind based on his time at a club he never settled at.
Open your eyes Arsenal fans, the only reason Arsenal is still thriving as an organisation is because of Wenger’s foresight in copying Barcelona’s model of creating a team with a clearly defined style of play and an academy system that instills its players with a style tailor made for this kind of play.

“Why are Arsenal fans so ignorantly self-righteous?”
Because Arsene Wenger has won 3 Premier League titles, 4 FA cups, the runners up in the Champions League, and has kept his teams in the top four for 10 years straight despite the financial doping at teams like Chelsea, Liverpool, Man U, and Man City?
10 years of watching football of very high quality helps you see when a player is utter crap.
Pavlyuchenko is utter crap, I’m talking Sergei Rebrov level of crap.

That was quite amusing, DRS, if obviously wildly inaccurate :)

A Euro 2008 Pavlychenko is exactly what Arsenal needs. However, I cannot see Wenger going for him.
If he was a talented young french/african attacking midfielder who’s shorter than 6′ AW would definitely buy him.
No, seriously, I think Carlton Cole is more likely to happen.
