Might it look a little something like THIS?
Over the weekend, there was much speculation - mostly coming from the throbbing football brains at The Times - about which names might appear on the Mancini wish list for the January transfer window, the combined cost of which would be absolutely astronomical.
But, should all of Mancini’s wildest dreams somehow come true, Man City can look forward to seeing the Juventus centre back/left back Giorgio Chiellini putting serious strain on the Lescott/Bridge axis of defensive unsophistication, with Inter’s Brazilian right back Maicon on the other side essentially putting paid to any hopes that Micah Richards might have had about coming good again.
Matthew Upson’s name is also in the mix.
In the midfield, there is talk of scuppering Mascherano’s move to Barcelona, and taking Yaya Toure from the Nou Camp while they’re at it. Whilst any potential Robinho/Bellamy-shaped holes should be easy enough to fill, should the rumours be true about Franck Ribery and Benfica’s Angel Di Maria. Both are marked men.
And so to the front, where Adebayor, Tevez and Santa Cruz have been slugging it out. The biggest whisper on the street is that City could yet be moved to spend around £80 million to tempt Fernando Torres to cross over from Liverpool, whilst there are also busy nattering voices suggesting that Thierry Henry and Sergio Aguero would provide the extra glitz and firepower that the men in robes so desire.
Hence, might this be the Man City line up for the new decade?
Given, Maicon, K Toure, Upson, Chiellini, Ribery, Mascherano, Y Toure, Di Maria, Aguero, Torres
It would be quite a team.
Thoughts?

Maicon’s agent on the chances of his client joining the Garry Cook & co:
“If the likes of Real or United knock on the door then you consider the eventual offers. But we are talking about a top player who is fighting for the league title, the Champions League, the best player in his role, what would he be doing at City? It would be unthinkable! Let’s not joke!”

I think maybe he should sign my friend Nani?
13 Joe // Dec 23, 2009 at 11:35 pm
I would never sign nani if i was a manager and i dont think we should. And Maicon would come to city and if mancini can get richards motivated he will be good enough just need a new left back and centre back.
14 Joe // Dec 23, 2009 at 11:37 pm
Chiellini and Tiawo would be the perfect signings and there reasonable

They could make city be a top 4 side this season if bought earlier in january because wayne bridge is are weak link and Taiwo is probably the most powerful left back in the world and Chiellini could solve the problem we have at the back
16 Cristiano Ronaldo // Dec 27, 2009 at 10:43 pm
I still think he should sign my friend Nani. They say he is the next me you know. Also why am I not in this team?

and nani shit

they won’t get maicon, plenty of top premier league sides have shown interest in him, and he hasn’t budged, so i doubt city will entice him.
chiellini is a possibility, but I don’t understand why you wouldn’t play him as a center back…that’s his preferred position.
they won’t get ribery, torres, and most likely not aguero either.
why would any of these players go to a team who, more than likely, will not get a champions league spot?
19 Joe // Dec 29, 2009 at 2:49 am
why woudn’t maicon come mancini is a well respected manager in italy and has worked with maicon before
