Imagine this, but with Bale in red

There is no more frustrating experience than being a football writer with newly acquired knowledge of a magnificently juicy rumour, but not being able to share it because of things like the law, moral codes, and horrible red tape. But suffice to say, someone somewhere has been up to something, as has his/her husband/wife/boyfriend/girlfriend, and someone might have to make some drastic moves to get away from the secret situation that no one is allowed to talk about.

Anyway, now that that’s off our chest, here’s what we can actually say, thanks to printed articles in papers like The Times, The Sun, The Daily Mail etc…

Roberto Mancini is super-keen to tempt Fernando Torres over to Man City in the summer, but cleverly realises that he’d be just one of a fair few suitors. He said this:

“Fernando Torres is a fantastic striker.”

“But all the teams in Europe are interested in him.”

“We must get the rest of the matches out of the way first, then we will decide about other players.”

In other Liverpool related news, the whisper on the grapevine is that Juventus are so convinced that Benitez will choose to head off to Italy in the summer that they have been approaching some of his key henchmen to discuss employment in the land of beautiful architecture and soft ice creams.

Plus, elsewhere in the world, Man United are keen to repeat their Dimitar Berbatov trick by snaffling Tottenham’s best player this season. Apparently, they are preparing a bid of around £20million for Gareth Bale.
