Old woman calls cops after striker and pals have misguided fun

Like a lot of professional footballers on the fringes of their national squad, ‘troubled teen sensation’ Mario Balotelli has probably been more bored than usual this summer, sat at home with thoughts of what could’ve been, while his mates are over in South Africa having ‘fun’.

However, rather than getting a stylish new tattoo, or posing shirtless for the laydeez, Super Mario has struck upon a novel way to pass the time until the new season starts – piling around Milan in his car, doing ‘drive-by shootings’ with toy guns.

The striker was stopped on Sunday after he and four friends spent the evening tearing through Piazza della Repubblica in Balotelli’s souped-up Audi R8, ’shooting into the air’. Hi-jinks were cut short when an elderly woman spotted the group, and, presuming some cap-to-ass action was about to go down, dialled the authorities.

Balotelli was let go after a swift telling off, before putting on his best “innocent 8-year-old” face and whining to La Gazzetta dello Sport:

“I have not done anything, I was just playing with friends”

Perhaps former Inter favourite Adriano should have used the same defence when he was caught ‘playing’ with a ‘paintball gun’ and a ‘lamp stand’.
