Everything you need to know about Manchester Utd/ Arsenal

Man Utd/Arsenal, Saturday 12.45pm, Sky Sports 1, £25 Free Bet

The fireworks, red ticker tape and novelty sized champagne bottles should be out in force at Old Trafford tomorrow, as Manchester Utd need just a point to claim their eleventh Premiership title. It’s up to opponents Arsenal to be party poopers, but they have won just two of their last seven games and one of their last six clashes with the Red Devils.

Once again, we’ve teamed up with the good folks at Betfair to produce a super fancy Interactive Match Wizard for the game. For all the statistics and betting information you could ever need, check it out.

Five reasons to back Man Utd to beat Wigan tonight

Wigan/Manchester Utd, 8pm, Sky Sports 1

Alex Ferguson and Steve Bruce

Steve Bruce has made his annual “we won’t roll over against Manchester United speech” - a speech he probably wouldn’t have to make if it didn’t keep happening - but to say the bookmakers are unconvinced would be an understatement. With the home win available at a stupendously long 14.5 on Betfair, even the most optimistic of Liverpool fans won’t be holding out too much hope. Here are five stats about tonight’s game, courtesy of chickendinner:

1. Wigan have lost all eight of their meetings with Manchester United.

2. Steve Bruce’s side have lost just two of their last 12 games at the JJB but have won just two of their last 15 league games.

3. The Latics have taken just one point from their four home games

Five reasons why United will win the Manchester Derby

Man Utd/Man City, Premier League, Sun, 1.30pm, Sky Sports 1

Manchester Utd at the races
Danielle Lloyd made them wait their turn on the balcony

There are plenty of statistics which suggest that an upset could be in order in Sunday’s Manchester derby: United have won just one of their last four home games against City and just five of their last 14 league clashes with them. The visitors, meanwhile, have won three straight league games for the first time all season, and have started to remember how to win away from home.

The pro-City stats may suggest that the bookmakers are being stingy with odds on the home win, but the folks at chickendinner don’t think a shock is on the cards. Here are five reasons why the league leaders should triumph:

1. Manchester United have won 32 of their last 36 home league games, including 15 of the last 16.

2. Manchester City haven’t won four straight top-flight matches since November 1992. On the last two occasions that they have managed three in a row they have lost the fourth. They have also gone 14 games in all competitions without a draw.

And the winner of the 2009 Grand National will be…

… revealed in this brief interlude to help you make money on the nags

Don’t resort to picking names out of hats or playing a game of pin the tail on the form guide: our friends at chickendinner have come up with a foolproof plan to identify this year’s Grand National winner. They eliminated all the likely losers who don’t fit the profile of a champion until we were left with just one horse standing. Read on to find out who it was:

Step One
14 of the last 17 winners started in the top eight of the betting. Therefore it must be one of these guys (three are joint-eighth):

My Will, Butler’s Cabin, Rambling Minister, State of Play, Hear The Echo, Parsons Legacy, Darkness, Comply or Die, Black Apalachi or Irish Invader

Step Two
10 of the last 13 winners have been aged either 9 or 10. That means we say goodbye to Rambling Minister (11), Hear The Echo (8), Parsons Legacy (11) and Irish Invader (8). Still fighting are:

Everton/ Chelsea: The top-flight’s worst hosts welcome the best visitors

Everton/Chelsea, 8pm, Setanta Sports 1, Free Bets

Didier Drogba

Everton, the team with the worst home record in the Premier League, host Chelsea, who have a 100% away record tonight. So will Chelsea go top of the league, or will the Big Four go without a win for the second week running? Here are all the key stats in the gospel according to chickendinner:

» Everton have taken just six points from eight Premier League home matches, while Chelsea have taken four times that amount on their travels.

» The Toffees haven’t won any of their last twenty meetings with the Blues with their last victory coming in November 2004, when they triumphed 2-1.

» Everton have taken points from one of their league meetings with Chelsea in each of the last three seasons but on the last two occasions it was in the away game.

» Last season David Moyes’ side lost all four

Five reasons why Chelsea won’t beat CFR Cluj tonight

Champions League, 7.45pm, Sky Sports Xtra, Free £10 bet

cfr cluj celebrate

Luiz Felipe Scolari admitted that it wouldn’t be a surprise if Chelsea were to lose in Romania tonight but, considering the start they have made to the season, not many people believe him. However, our pals at chickendinner believe that even if the Blues avoid their first defeat of the season against CFR Cluj, there’s no way they’ll leave with three points. Here’s why:

1. Chelsea have won their first four away games this season but in the last twenty years Chelsea have only once - 2003-04 - got through their first five on the road without dropping a point.

2. The Blues dropped points against all three of their group stage opponents last season - Valencia, Werder Bremen and Rosenberg - and against two out of three in each of the three seasons prior to that.

3. CFR Cluj have lost just three of their last forty home games in both the Romanian League and Europe.
