Sheeerah! Sheeerah!
Most managers who contribute to a club’s relegation become pariahs. Forced to move away from the city, booed upon their return with another team, these men certainly don’t get another crack at the job (see Peter Taylor at Leicester, Tony Cottee at Barnet or Bryan Robson anywhere for classic Public Enemy No 1 examples.)
Yet not Alan Shearer. The man who won just one of his eight matches in charge is tipping himself to take charge again one day. Speaking in the weekend’s press, Shearer said,
“I would still like to be the manager of Newcastle again one day. If the situation came around and everything was right and in place then without a doubt I would love to give it another go. But that’s not up to me.”

UNWANTED CANDIDATE
Unemployed manager tries to talk his way into the Parkhead post

You’d think someone who relegated Wycombe and was ready to do the same with Portsmouth would struggle to land a League Two job* but Tony Adams frightened Celtic fans today by claiming he could succeed Gordon Strachan.
The legendary defender said he had been recommended by popular former boss Wim Jansen, who he worked with at Feyenoord. Despite not even applying, he seemed to expect to be considered ahead of candidates like Roberto Martinez, whose Swansea side knocked him out of the FA Cup.

Personnel Change
Former Middlesbrough man to fill Joe Kinnear’s boots

In their search for a temporary replacement for their temporary replacement for Kevin Keegan, Newcastle Utd are poised to approach Bryan Robson, say the Daily Express:
With Joe Kinnear facing a heart bypass operation and unlikely to return anytime soon, owner Mike Ashley is considering approaching Robson, the former England captain and ex-boss at North-east neighbours Middlesbrough, to take temporary charge.
Robson, whose departure from Sheffield Utd was ever-so-slightly acrimonious, is said to be the leading contender for the temporary post, and is very keen to offer his services.

The No. 7 Shirt
The chickendinner bet blog considers the race the Manchester Utd’s hallowed jersey

The number seven shirt is considered the most prestigious at Old Trafford, having been worn previously by the likes of George Best, Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona and David Beckham.
Cristiano Ronaldo was supposed to be the next great player to achieve legend status wearing the number with which he has become obsessed, but it looks like he has craned his extraordinarily long neck in the direction of Madrid.
Paddy Power still make Ronaldo 5/4 favourite to be wearing the shirt next season, while the second favourite is for nobody to inherit the number for the coming campaign should the 42-goal Portuguese leave: say what you will about Ronny’s performance over the season just past, but he surely hasn’t done enough to have his number retired.
The best of the rest is Carlos Tevez, currently
