Nicklas Bendtner escapes serious car crash

Footballers continue to destroy nice motors

nbendtner.jpg

Furthering the widely held belief that footballers have a hard time translating their excellent foot/eye coordination into the successful operation of an automobile, Nicklas Bendtner wrapped his £160,000 Aston Martin around a tree on Sunday morning.

The striker’s car left the road as he drove to Arsenal’s training ground in London Colney, Hertfordshire, ploughing through a fence and a tree before coming to rest in a field. It sounds (and looks) pretty serious. But don’t worry Bendtner fan! The slipper-sporting Dane walked away with just bruising to the shoulder and grazed knees.

According to The Sun, a ‘motorist’ who ’saw’ the accident said:

“The car wasn’t going especially fast but careered off the road. The driver must have lost his concentration for a moment. There was a massive amount of damage to the car but he got out, brushed himself down and seemed right as rain. He’s a lucky boy.

Arsene Wenger now has a selection dilemma, with Bendtner out of tonight’s Champions League clash with Olympiakos. And we’re sure he won’t have been happy seeing his striker hitting the woodwork again. *bu-dum-tssh.*

Cristiano Ronaldo insists he is a good driver

C-Ron defends his recent motoring accident

Cristiano Ronaldo’ Ferrari

A few weeks ago, Cristiano Ronaldo decided to raise his insurance premiums even further into the stratosphere by making some drastic alterations to the chassis of his gorgeous £200,000 Ferrari 599 GTB.

Today, he has insisted his driving skills are not to blame for the accident:

“I actually consider myself a good driver. I’ve never had an accident ins ix years, apart from this one.

“I was unlucky, I caught oil on the road, a bit of ice and there you are.”

Perhaps Ronaldo did fall foul of Manchester’s notorious oily-ice tunnels, but are we meant to believe he was sticking to a safe speed? We’re not sure what the official speed limit of the road is, but the only way he could have done that much damage to the front of the car at 30mph would be if he hit a landmine.

Franck Ribery crashes the Bayern Munich team bus!

Frenchman breaks law, endangers team mates, has a good laugh

Franck Ribery crashes the Bayern Munich team bus!

It looks like C-Ron wasn’t the only one to have an automotive accident yesterday. Bayern Munich are still enjoying their long winter break in Dubai, and according to German rag Bild, Franck Ribery decided it would be good fun to take the team bus for a spin. Uh oh.

Franck Ribery crashes the Bayern Munich team bus!

The midfielder, who had one hundred stitches in his face after a car crash as a two-year-old, did a lap of the hotel with the entire team on board. Before long, he smashed through two road signs and scarped the curb before putting an end to his own high jinks.

The hotel were left fuming by the damage and the fact that Ribery didn’t have a bus driving licence, and embarrassed Bayern general manager Uli Hoeneß had to suffer the consequences of Ribery’s prankery.
