Video: David di Michele’s comedy dive against Liverpool

Italian hits the deck in hilarious fashion

Didier Drogba received more flak for his strong commitment to cheating this weekend, but one of the best dives of the 2008/09 Premier League campaign happened at Upton Park on Saturday.

After a rookie defensive error from Jamie Carragher, West Ham’s David di Michele was clean through on goal. At the point where he should have unleashed a shot and made it 2-1, the Italian appeared to trip himself up. Rather than try to find his footing, he then jumped in the air in the style of a Hollywood movie star leaping away from a huge explosion.

Unsurprisingly, di Michele was booked for his laughable attempt at deception.

Spurs may sell two strikers to buy one, Aston Villa linked with Newcastle defender

The latest transfer gossip, rumours and damned lies

Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones

Harry Redknapp plans to shuffle his striking options
The Daily Mirror are reporting that Redknapp is ready to sell Darren Bent and Roman Pavlyuchenko, scorers of a combined 29 goals this season, and replace them with Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones.

The Spoiler Truth-o-meter: Bent may go but Redknapp is unlikely to axe Pavlyuchenko after a respectable first season.

Sebastien Bassong to Aston Villa
Aston Villa’s haven’t looked anywhere near as solid at the back since Martin Laursen injured his knee in January so they may target Newcastle defender Bassong in the summer.

The Spoiler Truth-o-meter: Newcastle may struggle to keep Bassong even if they survive and he would stand more chance of breaking into Villa’s first team than Arsenal’s.

Edison Cavani to West Ham
There are only about ten youngsters playing in Italy who haven’t been linked with a move to West Ham this season. Palermo’s Uruguayan striker Cavani is reportedly the latest player to intrigue Gianluca Nani.

The Spoiler Truth-o-meter: 33-year-old duo David Di Michele and Diego Tristan are currently leading the Hammers’ line so an injection of youth wouldn’t go amiss.

Is Craig Bellamy already fed up with his Brazilian teammates?

Reports claim there is a changing room divide at Manchester City

Manchester City celebrate

The Daily Mail claim that one of Manchester City’s four January signings is so frustrated with Robinho and Elano’s attitude that he has demanded that someone “sort them out”.

Considering three of those new arrivals are Wayne Bridge, Nigel de Jong and Shay Given, it seems fairly reasonable to assume that the loudmouth in question is Craig Bellamy, who despite a chronic lack of loyalty is renowned for his work-rate and dedication in training.

The mystery player is also reportedly angry that neither Brazilian has spoken to him since he joined the club. This scans with comments the Welsh striker made in December about being disappointed that vocal players Anton Ferdinand and Bobby Zamora had been replaced with silent foreigners like David Di Michele and Diego Tristan at West Ham.
