TRANSFER TALK
Real Madrid are going to have to spend their millions elsewhere

Valencia have had a change of heart and told Real Madrid that they won’t be selling David Villa, according to reports in Spain.
Marca claim that Valencia president Manuel Llorente met with the Spain striker’s agent Jose Luis Tamargo this morning to tell him that Villa would be staying at the Mestalla and a statement is expected later today confirming this.
If the reports are accurate it could have massive implications on the transfer market. Cash-strapped Valencia may be forced to sell Liverpool target David Silva instead while Real Madrid will have to shop elsewhere for a striker.
UPDATE: Setanta are carrying quotes from Tamargo confirming the “very sad” news that Villa is no longer on the market.

The Rumour Vine
Likely President Florentino Perez sets sights on Gunners gaffer

The morning after Arsene Wenger claimed to have suffered “the most disappointing night of [his] career”, the Spanish press have gone into full speculation mode.
Marca claim likely Real Madrid president Florentino Perez will swoop for the brainy Frenchman to “lead a project based on stars and academy players”. The daily sport paper also purport that Wenger will be the key to the signing of “his footballing son,” known to the rest of the world as Cesc Fabregas.
It is fair to assume that the Arsenal captain would stay loyal to his coach, but we’re not convinced that Wenger’s work in North London is done just yet.
