The latest transfer gossip, rumours and damned lies

David Villa to Manchester United
The Daily Mirror are reporting that Sir Alex Ferguson wants Valencia striker David Villa “above all other options” to replace Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez and claim that he is willing to match whatever Barcelona offer for the Spanish international.
The Spoiler Truth-o-meter: Villa is reluctant to test himself abroad and said recently: ”Next season I will play in Spain because it is the league that is best for me. I will not go abroad.” If he leaves the Mestalla this summer, it will almost certainly be for either Barcelona or Real Madrid.
Samuel Eto’o to Manchester City
Barcelona’s attempts to sign Villa are good news for Manchester City, with the Telegraph claiming that Pep Guardiola will let Samuel Eto’o go if the Spain

The latest transfer gossip, rumours and damned lies

Hurrah! The summer transfer roundabout has been set into motion! Kaka is on the brink of sealing a world record transfer to Madrid, Daniel Sturridge has become Carlo Ancelotti’s first signing and Manchester City continue to be linked to every player under the sun. Isn’t life wonderful? Here’s the latest from Transferland…
Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona
The Daily Star believe the Catalan giants will attempt to take back what was once theirs, and are preparing to pay £50m for the privilege. Real Madrid and Chelsea are also said to be interested.
The Spoiler truth-o-meter: Cesc has made no secret of his desire to play in La Liga, and Barca would undoubtedly be his club of choice, but we suspect he has one more season of Premier League football in him.
Didier Drogba to stay at Chelsea
As a reward for his disgraceful Champions League behaviour, constant diving and general petulance, Le Drog has been given a three-year

THE CAREER LADDER
It all goes wrong when you exit Old Trafford, just ask these guys

Manchester United chief executive David Gill has arrogantly suggested that Carlos Tevez’s career will go downhill if he walks away from Old Trafford.
He said: ”The game is littered with players who have left us, for whatever reason, who say after Manchester United it is downhill. Hopefully they get the right advice, they understand that and make the right decision.”
However, The Spoiler instantly thought of two courageous souls who somehow bounced back from the supposedly indescribable pain of leaving. Diego Forlan was the top La Liga scorer in 2004-05 and has this season scored a ridiculous

Edin Dzeko to Tottenham
The Bosnian has put away nine goals in four games for Bundesliga leaders VfL Wolfsburg, but is unhappy that manager and mentor Felix Magath will be leaving the club for Schalke in the closed season. Accordingly, The Daily Mail report that the £12m-rated striker has caught the attention of Spurs.
The Spoiler truth-o-meter: He would fill the hole that crappy moody striker Roman Pavlyuchenko is likely to leave, but Arsenal, Manchester Utd, Everton and Blackburn are also keen.
Diego Forlan to Manchester City
The Uruguayan has been banging them in for fun at Atletico Madrid this season, and has become a City priority since a move for Barcelona-bound

Ronaldinho to Manchester City
They spectacularly failed to land his signature last summer, but The Daily Mirror believe Manchester City are in line to secure the services of the King of Nightclubs. The two-time World Player of the Year, who cost Milan €21m, could go for as little as €11m. To Manchester City. Who would probably pay €50m for one of his boots.
The Spoiler truth-o-meter: Speculation that he will leave the San Siro is strong, and the only other club who seem to be in the running are Napoli. His brother and agent Roberto de Assis Moreira has quashed rumours he will do an Adriano and bugger off back to Brazil:
“There is no chance of Ronaldinho going back to Brazil at the end of the season.
“But if you ask me whether he could change teams in Europe, I would say yes, definitely.”
Carlos Tevez not going to Real Madrid
The wet dog-alike has been linked with a move to Spain for some time, but according to The Daily Mail, he has turned down a formal £40m offer from Los Blancos. Undeterred by the prospect of over-using his client’s name,

Diego Forlan could return to the Premier League next season

If Manchester City are looking for someone who can compete with Robinho in terms of inconsistency, they may have found their man.
The Citizens are reported to be targeting Diego Forlan, who has banged in nineteen goals for Ateltico Madrid this season - almost twice his tally in two-and-a-half years at Manchester Utd.
Ateltico Madrid are said to be ready to ‘cash in’ on Forlan at the end of the season if someone offers the right price, and have already received interest from Tottenham and Sunderland.
The Uruguayan striker’s agent Daniel Bolotnikoff told Sky Sports:
“I have received calls from big European clubs requesting information about the situation, but I am not authorised to give their names.
“Forlan could have a big role in England.”
Spoiler bonus: We find it impossible to write a post about Diego Forlan without including video of the greatest moment in his career…

WAG of the Day
Diego Forlan’s bed never looked so good

After failing to lure glamour model Claudia Albertario into his bed, Diego Forlan didn’t lose faith in his lady-killing abilities. The Atletico Madrid stirker climbed straight back on the proverbial WAG horse by boffing Zaira Nara, an insanely good looking Argentinean model. If only he had shown such mettle in front of goal on this fateful day.
