Now there’s a headline you wouldn’t expect to read
This season, fans of teams in the Championship, League One and League Two will be able to see weekly highlights of their teams, provided they are willing to stay up until ridiculous o’clock on a Saturday night. The inaugural Football League Show got off to a rousing start at the weekend, when highlights of Torquay’s encounter with Chesterfield were interrupted by an attractive young lady going to the toilet.
The broadcasting blip, which occurred at around 12.50am on Sunday morning, sees Kate Bosworth’s indiscreet scene from (the rubbish surfer film) Blue Crush. It starts at [0.41] in the video, and continues for a full 38-Daily-Mail-reader-shocking seconds.
A BBC Spokesman blamed the toilet infraction on a “technical hitch”, but as our friends at DT point out, he probably meant to blame it on “a deliberate ploy to stir controversy and create awareness of a brand new show”.
A word of advice for budding goalies: only attempt to take a free kick if you are actually awarded one
Presumably, this goalkeeper was under the impression that an offside decision had been made, and he was entitled to a free kick. Either that, or he is a pound coin short of a Robinho pay packet.
If anyone can tell us where or when this incident happened, let us know…
The Holy Goalie received his comeuppance, says Polish legend
We at The Spoiler were having trouble figuring out the reason for Artur Boruc’s massive howler against Northern Ireland at the weekend. Did he suffer a temporary rage blackout? Was he preoccupied by thoughts of T-shirts with hilariously offensive slogans on them?
Apparently not. This morning, legendary keeper and controversial pundit Jan Tomaszewski has cleared things up. The Pole - who was dubbed “The Man That Stopped England” after an outstanding performance in a World Cup qualifier in 1974 - says Boruc’s blunder was “a punishment from God”:
“Artur has no one to blame but himself. You could say he has had a punishment from God.
“He started a religious war in Glasgow and now it’s come back to haunt him. That is why he was under so much pressure in Belfast - as he is hated by most of the Protestant community.”
Nigel Worthington’s Northern Ireland went a point clear at the top of Group Three this weekend, thanks to a 61st minute error from Celtic keeper Artur Boruc.
The inexplicably angry Pole, who loves nothing more than winding up Rangers fans, was on the receiving end of laughter rather than venemous insults, as a result of his utter failure to clear Michal Zewlakow’s back-pass.
German side made to pay for goalkeeper’s horrendous mistake
German teams have a reputation for being ruthlessly efficient but obviously the stereotype doesn’t ring true in the lower leagues. Michael Melka, the goalkeeper for third-tier team Fortuna Dusseldorf was apparently never taught to look around him before kicking the ball out and he paid in spectacular style against Regensburg this weekend.

When Bragantino visited São Paulo in the Brazilian Paulista Championship last Thursday, home goalkeeper Rogerio Ceni pulled of epic proportions. Those in the crowd who mocked the 35-year-old for his inability to catch a mis-fired cross were soon silenced, as the poor old chap descended into some sort of breakdown.
Medics tried everything to help (prodding him, waving a magic sponge in his face), but the inconsolable shot stopper could not be cheered up. As far as we’re aware, he’s still laying on the pitch now.
If Heurelho Gomes had reacted like that to mistakes, he would have spent most of the season sitting down in tears.
Yesterday Scottish Premier League leaders Celtic visited Hibernian, and were duly handed a 2-0 schooling. John Rankin’s goal came courtesy of a hideous error from Hoops keeper Artur Boruc, who appeared to momentarily lose all sense of hand-eye coordination.
Colombian scorpion kick specialist Rene ‘El Loco’ Higuita is known for his brave advances up the field, but not every shot stopper can pull it off. This poor soul, playing for Gama in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série B will probably stay glued to his line for the next few games.
