Video: Manchester City and Tottenham UEFA Cup highlights

Blues encouraged by draw, Lilywhites’ Euro hopes dashed

FC Copenhagen 2 / Manchester City 2

The Tame Goal of the Week Award goes to City defender Nedum Onuoha, whose side-foot tap somehow found its way past FC Copenhagen keeper Jesper Christiansen. Mark Hughes’ side should have taken three points, but came away with a better result than Manchester Utd did on their last visit to the Parken Stadium (a 1-0 Champions League defeat in 2006).

Shakhtar Donetsk 2/ Tottenham 0

Tottenham visited a ploughed field in the Ukraine and battled well for most of the game. After the game, ‘Arry said he was still taking the UEFA Cup seriously,” then added that he’ll probably play four seventeen-year-olds in next week’s return leg.

Copenhagen coach: “Manchester City are destroying football”

Stale Solbakken talks trash prior to UEFA Cup game

Stale Solbakken

In an interview with Danish newspaper Ekstra-Bladet, FC Copenhagen manager Stale Solbakken has made his thoughts about Manchester City’s millions very clear. The Norwegian, whose side welcome the Citizens in the UEFA Cup on Thursday, believes their money and nine figure transfer offers are “destroying” the beautiful game:

“The amounts of money that have been mentioned are incredible.

“I think that such incredible sums will take part in destroying football. They are creating too big a mental distance between what we call reality and then Manchester City.

“The hardest part for City is that they, by tradition, are not a big club and therefore all the money in the world does not make a difference. They brought in Bridge even though he is only marginally better than what they had already, and that says how hard it is to get the best players.”

Much like the rest of the world, Solbakken is clearly poking fun at Manchester City’s embarrassing

FC Copenhagen reward players with adult films

Jesper Grønkjær and co given unusual incentive

Jesper Grønkjær and his rewards

In his 1943 paper A Theory of Human Motivation, psychologist Abraham Maslow showed businesses how best to motivate their staff. At no point on his famous hierarchy of needs pyramid, however, do pornographic films appear as a working incentive. Despite this, the folks at FC Copenhagen have been dishing art films as win bonuses:

One of the club’s sponsors, sex movie distributors BN Agentur, have promised the squad two porn movies every time they win.Laursen, Sionko and team mates have risen to the challenge - winning nine of their first 13 games to go one point behind leaders Odense.

Copenhagen, known locally as FCK, screen the films at their training ground - although they refuse to reveal who gets to keep them afterwards.

Club chairman Flemming Ostergaard said: “As far as I am concerned, there is nothing wrong with it.”

As a motivator for a team of young men, bongo would appear to be a winner, but we can’t see it working in the Premier League. Why would Cristiano Ronaldo want a copy of Buffy The Vampire Layer when he could get more money instead? You know, money to buy prostitutes with?
