Video: An incredibly soft 45-yard goal from the Norwegian Premier League

More fun from the current Tippeligaen season

Back in 1996, The Spoiler watched a very poor Everton side demolished 4-0 by Wimbledon. The first goal came as a result of a freakish 40-yard Neal Ardley free kick, which sluggishly hit the back of Neville Southall’s net after taking a bounce.

We had seen nothing like it until today, when Hunter Freeman’s effort for Norwegian Tippeligaen side I.K. Start caught our attention. Neville Southall had the excuse of being overweight and about 600 years old - there’s little reason why this Norwegian shotstopper couldn’t have made a better effort.

Video: Unsporting striker takes advantage of keeper’s stupidity

A word of advice for budding goalies: only attempt to take a free kick if you are actually awarded one

Presumably, this goalkeeper was under the impression that an offside decision had been made, and he was entitled to a free kick. Either that, or he is a pound coin short of a Robinho pay packet.

If anyone can tell us where or when this incident happened, let us know…

We’re not entirely sure if this advert is a suitable analogy for the need to protect African children with malaria nets, but it’s an extremely good cause all the same.

Serie A team score by dropping their shorts!

Catania create a goal by displaying their fabulous underwear

Catania/ Torino

Torino visited Sicilian Serie A side Catania on Sunday, and became of the first victims of a stunt that would be better suited on the playground. In order to block the goalkeeper’s view of a free kick, three Catania players, including de-robed forward Gianvito Plasmati in the picture above, dropped their keks around their knees. The trick worked brilliantly, as Giuseppe Mascara’s free kick sailed past keeper Matteo Sereni to secure to 3-2 victory for the home side:

“This is a strategy that (Catania coach Walter) Zenga tries continually in training,” the club’s chief executive Pietro Lo Monaco told RAI state radio yesterday.

Former referees coordinator Paolo Casarin called the move “unsportsmanlike and in bad taste.

“It’s a trick that should not be tolerated anymore by the referees,” Casarin said.

Lo Monaco responded: “A trick? I wouldn’t say so. It’s up to the referee to decide if it should be penalised, otherwise I don’t see where the problem is … Good taste is relative.”

Good work fellas, if a little unsporting. Check out video highlights of the match after il jumpo…

Japanese boy ruins entire life with single free kick

Attempts to emulate Alan Shearer’s World Cup netbuster. Fails. Remember when Alan Shearer rifled this indirect free kick into the back of the net in a 1998 World Cup qualifier against Georgia?

He may not be any good at punditry, but there was absolutely no
