Double Rookie Error
Hertha Berlin’s Sascha Burchert punished twice for same mistake
The Spoiler had the pleasure of visiting Berlin’s imposing Olympic Stadium last month, but we turned up on the wrong day and therefore didn’t get a chance to see the rubbish team that plays there.
Despite qualifying for the Europa League this season, Hertha Berlin find themselves rock bottom of the Bundesliga following seven straight defeats. Over the weekend, they faced high-flying Hamburg and it proved to be a rough day for 19-year-old keeper Sascha Burchert. Stepping in when regular stick guard Tim Ochs came off injured, Burchert took five minutes to perform a headed clearance that resulted in an embarrassing goal. To make matters worse, the rookie keeper showed that he had learned absolutely nothing by letting almost the exact same thing happen two minutes later.
Suffering Hertha fans were also treated to an own goal, which rounded off a miserable 3-1 home defeat.

Transfer Talk
The latest transfer gossip, rumours and damned lies

Christian Poulsen to Fulham
The Times report that the West London outfit have been given the opportunity to sign the Juventus midfielder, who has turned down a £6m move to Fenerbahçe.
The Spoiler truth-o-meter: The Dane may be holding out for a move to the Premier League, but he won’t get the hero’s welcome he could have expected in Turkey.
Andriy Voronin to Hull
After losing out on Michael Owen, Phil Brown could make a move for Liverpool’s pony-tailed Ukrainian, according to the Mirror. Much like the arrangement that saw him return to the Bundesliga

WAG of the Day
Serbia’s finest reality star and pop princess

Until this morning, we had no idea that Hertha Berlin had a central defender named Gojko Kačar. However, thanks to a relationship with Serbian Big Brother contestant, pop star and TV host Ena Popov, he is well and truly on The Spoiler map.

Inclement Weather
Germans forced to train in -14°C conditions

While Hamburg and Bayern Munich are enjoying the pleasant 21°C climate of the United Arab Emirates, their Bundesliga colleagues aren’t having such a wonderful time.
FC Köln, pictured above, are enduring a -13°C freeze, while Hertha Berlin’s coach is attempting to beat the chill at the training ground by putting plastic bags over his socks.
Fortunately, our German friends aren’t big on complaining - they haven’t made gloves thick enough to make someone like Didier Drogba go and play in those kinds of conditions.
