Deadline Day Update
The very latest scurrilous deadline day rumours…

Berbatov’s decision to join Manchester Utd and Robinho’s last-gasp decision to sell out made the last deadline day bloody exciting right up until midnight. Today’s action is scheduled to stop at 5pm, so Harry Redknapp and Mark Hughes can get in their jammies at a sensible hour tonight.
Here’s what happened so far…
Eidur Gudjohnsen stayed at a Hull City centre hotel last night, and will be having talks at the KC Stadium later today.
The Daily Mail claim Liverpool have accepted a £15m bid for Robbie Keane from Tottenham. Just six months after departing, the tiny Irishman could re-sign later today.
Andrei Arshavin is currently residing in a London hotel, so Arsenal’s painful negotiations with the Russian Euro 2008 sensation may finally reach their conclusion today.
To fill Robbie Keane’s spot on the bench, Liverpool are attempting to bring Real Madrid’s Javier Saviola to Anfield on loan.
We weren’t aware that Manchester City were after Roma defender Christian Panucci, but Sky Sports say his agent claims the Italian has turned down deals from them and Hull.
Should the blue side of Manchester acquire the services of Roque Santa Cruz later today, Blackburn are eyeing up Schalke’s german forward Kevin Kurányi.

Transfer Talk
The latest transfer gossip, rumours and damned lies

Transferland hasn’t been too hectic over the last 24 hours (the BBC ran the same ‘Cudicini to Tottenham’ headline from 2pm yesterday until 10am this morning), but some surprise links and saga twists have crept along in the past few hours…
Robbie Keane to Newcastle
After finding himself somewhere between the kitman and the programme sellers in Rafa Benitez’s estimation, Robbie Keane would almost certainly welcome a move away from Anfield. The Metro, who have never struck us as fine purveyors of transfer rumours in the past, claim Newcastle will swoop for the Irishman after Michael Owen’s inevitable summer departure.
The Spoiler truth-o-meter: It’s hard to see where else Keane could go in the Premier League, and St James’ would be a perfect place for Keane’s resurrection. Liverpool would have to swallow a lot of pride though, as Newcastle would pay nothing near the £20m fee they coughed up not so long ago.
Luis Valencia and Javier Saviola switch-a-roo
Last month it was rumoured that Real Madrid were willing to offer up to £15m for Wigan’s right winger, but the uncertainty caused by Calderon’s departure from the Spanish giants means they are not overly keen on spending big. Instead, the Spanish press say they may offer some sort of swap with Javier Saviola.
The Spoiler truth-o-meter: Wigan have already

The latest gossip, rumours and damned lies

Sorry Manchester City, it looks like all that money will continue to burn a hole in your pocket…
Kaka to stay put
The BBC are running a headline claiming “Kaka is very close to signing”, but also lead the gossip section with a claim that Manchester City have withdrawn their bid, and will be chasing another Serie A star.
The Spoiler truth-o-meter: The most ridiculous transfer ever isn’t going to happen? Really?
Javier Saviola to Portsmouth
The Sun are reporting that Tony Adams wishes to recruit Real Madrid’s oft-underused Argentinean on loan for the rest of the season, to fill the Jermain Defoe-shaped hole in his strike force.
The Spoiler truth-o-meter: Saviola would certainly benefit from the experience, and a

WAG of the Day
And the world’s youngest WAG award goes to…

As I learnt the hard way when Jennie Smith went out with Tom Stevenson instead of me just because he could drive, produce facial hair and speak without cracking into a high-pitched squeal, most girls of a school age aspire to go out with older chaps. In bad news for the hopes of schoolboys the world over, but good news for wealthy old goats, this tradition is being carried on by Argentinean Romanela Amato and her 26-year-old Real Madrid striker-type Javier Saviola. Romanela turns seventeen this month. Yikes.
