Wayne’s little bro signs a rather humble contract
Manchester Utd star Wayne Rooney may be pulling a handsome £110,000 a week for kicking a ball about inbetween bouts of over-eating, yet he is not the only footballing talent in the family. 17-year-old brother John has been in the youth team for League Two outfit Macclesfield for two years, and yesterday was handed a full-time professional contract.
After being on the books at Everton like his older sibling, John must be delighted at finally breaking into the professional scene, but he’d better not place an order at the local Ferrari dealership just yet - The Sun say he is being paid just £150 a week. By my calculations, this puts his weekly earnings just above the legal minumum wage of £3.40 per hour for under 18s, meaning he’ll have to work very hard if he ever wishes to afford the quality of prostitutes frequented by his brother.
