The Spoiler

Uh-oh, Mourinho’s in trouble

Mourinho - a bit scary

Mourinho

Having witnessed the pig’s ear that Assou-Ekotto made of off-pitch aggression, it seems that the Spurs man could learn a thing or two from Jose Mourinho - master of beautiful outbursts.

In a bout of classic journo-baiting, it seems that the former Chelsea manager reacted to the sight of a geeky newspaper reporter daring to speak to one of his players after the weekend’s 1-1 draw with Bergamo by shoving the keyboard-jockey in the chest, calling him a “son of a whore”, a “shit”, then suggesting he “fuck off back to the press room.”

This hasn’t gone down particularly well.

Mourinho is already held in rather low esteem by the Italian press, having recently gone on talking-strike, and (as reported in today’s Daily Mail) now Luigi Ferraiolo - the president of the Italian Sports Journalists’ Association - has said this:

“The physical and verbal attack by Jose Mourinho on our colleague marks one of the lowest and most alarming moments in the relationship between football and the media.”

Oh dear.

Is it time for Mourinho to come home? Let us know with a comment…

WAG No. 372: Estelle Denis

The First Lady of French football

The focus of his request was Estelle Denis, the popular French sports TV presenter with whom he has two children.

Despite their lengthy relationship and shared offspring, the 32-year-old journalist said no. Ouch.

Video: Journalist interviewing David Beckham gets confused

Writer attempts to make audio recording with a notepad

David Beckham makes his long-awaited return to US soccerball this Thursday, and has took an interview with local journalists as an opportunity to hit back at bitchy colleagues made by LA Galaxy colleague Landon Donovan.

We know this isn’t breaking news (in fact, it’s been the top story on the BBC football homepage since yesterday morning!), but the clip is well worth a look for the intrepid actions of the journalist standing right in front of the England star. While others use Dictaphones, this chap simply holds out a notepad in the hope that it will somehow record Beckham’s words. Bless.
