Unnecessary Merchandise News
Well it’s about damn time

In their latest bid to increase their following in Americaland, Chelsea have produced an official basketball shoe.
The adidas TS Commander LT - which comes with a free scarf and Chelsea shirt - drops on August 29, but will only be available at a retailer named Bodega. They’re based in Boston, where NBA star and Chelsea fan Kevin Garnett plies his trade.

Quite why the Blues chose to launch a basketball shoe instead of taking the natural progression towards a football boot is beyond us, but you can take a closer look at it after the jump…

Adidas pays footballer and b’baller to dick around
Remember 2008? Nobody cared about Lady Gaga and her indifferent attitude to trousers, Twitter wasn’t lowering office productivity on a global scale and David Beckham was still welcome in the United States of America.
Before he tried to escape from the land of hope and glory, Mr B filmed an Adidas advert that featured Missy Elliot, The Ting Tings, Katy Perry and loads of other terribly important people at a ‘house party’.
The German sports clothing manufacturer have since released a clip of the Milan loaner mucking around in the driveway with Boston Celtics behemoth Kevin Garnett. Instead of testing each other at their respective sports, Beckham and Garnett devise a Baseketball-style hyrbid of football and basketball. If the editing is to be believed, Beckham comes away looking like the coolest man on earth, while Garnett’s skills do not match up to his ability to shout slogans.

NBA forward unnecessarily thrilled about receiving free garment
American netball fans are currently engrossed in the NBA Finals, where Kevin Garnett’s Boston Celtics are attempting to throw more balls into some small elevated hoops than the LA Lakers. As a reward for his outstanding defensive performances this season, Garnett was treated to a personalised shirt courtesy of Europe’s second most successful team.
Even though it’s a small gesture for a well paid sportsman, it’s great to see Garnett react with childlike excitement. It’s probably the same bounding enthusiasm that Jermain Defoe expresses when he bursts open the doors of Chinawhite to see a gaggle of scantily-clad Big Brother rejects. Bless.
