Football show Controcampo (”Offside”) broadcasts on the Mediaset network owned by Italian PM /sex pest Silvio Berlusconi, so its consistently high standards of salacious Waggery is unsurprising. Prominent alumni include Elisabetta Cannalis, Federica Fontana and Chilean model Maria Jose Lopez, the ex-wife of West Ham’s Luis Jimenez.

Ms Lopez - who hit headlines earlier this year for her involvement in a violent  love triangle that earned her a divorce from Jimenez - finds herself back in the spotlight this morning, as she has been sacked from Controcampo.

Dimitar Berbatov barely exudes enough energy to get out of bed and put his hairband on, so it was with great surprise that we read about his supposed adventures with a Bulgarian Playboy Playmate of the Year.

The rather lovely Nikoleta Lozanova received the honour of WAG of the Day status for her relationship with (unused) Liverpool goalkeeper Nikolay Mihaylov, but she has since started romancing Georgi ‘The Head’ Stoilov, a feared mob boss.

‘The Head’ isn’t exactly the kind of chap one should cross, but that is exactly what Berbs has done, if a Bulgarian magazine is to be believed. The Sun done a report what sez:

In 1994, Brazilian striker Romario was on top of the world: he was FIFA World Player of the Year, he won the World Cup and he finsihed the 1993/94 season as Barcelona’s top scorer. As one may expect of a footballer in his position, the Brazilian also did rather well with the ladies. He started a relationship with Sonia Monroy after admiring her work as a stripper, but they split soon after she claimed she was pregnant with his child.

Beckham isn’t the only one who’s unhappy with Diego Simeone

Earlier this year, 34-year-old model Carolina Baldini confirmed that she had separated from former Lazio midfielder and current San Lorenzo manager Diego Simeone. “We have not ceased to love each other, but we could not overcome the crisis,” she told an Argentinean newspaper. The “crisis” in question may have been Simeone’s decision to cheat on his wife with a 21-year-old Argentinean lingerie model named Julieta Spina.

The folks at German TV network ProSieben have devised an ingenious reality TV show that focuses solely on the spectacle of attractive under-dressed ladies. Called Sommermädchen (Summer Girls), the show pits 16 aspiring models against one another with the promise of an FHM cover shoot for the winner.

The Spoiler is rooting for Monique, the apparently-surname-less blonde who has been enjoying steamrollering sessions with Hertha BSC’s Fabian Lustenberger for the past seven months.

Beauty queen strikes up a partnership with Bolivian star

When they’re not smashing up the opposition on their crazy high altitude pitches, Bolivia’s football stars appear to enjoy romancing women who wear bikinis for a living.

Nowhere is this more clear than in the case of striker Marcelo Moreno, who has been linked to Miss Bolivia 2007 Jessica Jordan in the South American press. The on-loan Werder Bremen hitman, however, insists he is just friends with the 24-year-old beauty queen. Whatevs, Marcelo.
