Loss of tiny little striker may be blessing in disguise
With the payment of what Daniel Levy describes as a £20.3m ‘compensation fee’ (note how the same term wasn’t applied when John Bostock was whisked away from Palace), Robbie Keane finally bid adieu to White Hart Lane this week. With that stroppy Bulgarian fellow still deciding whether he wants to pull on a red shirt next season, things look bleak on the surface for Spurs.
However, they have made two great signings in dos Santos and Modric, and the Keane compensation fee could be used to bring in Russian manchild Andrei Arshavin, a player who could easily be taught to cartwheel towards the corner flag before firing off some ‘hand pistols’. As a bonus, it also looks like hastily-purchased flop Darren Bent could be joining Keane on Merseyside, albeit in a blue jersey.
Assuming that Berbs stays, Tottenham could have a tour-de-force of talent up front and in the midfield.
So, Spoiler readers, the question is this: do you believe Spurs will be better off without the little Oirish chap, or are they destined to finish in the wrong half of the table again?
