Italy continues to shine as the WAG capital of the world

It seems that certain Italian television shows are a hotbed of WAG activity. Variety show Striscia la Notizia (‘Strip the News’) has given the world Elena Barolo, Melissa Satta and Giorgia Palmas, while Carabinieri (which seems to be the Italian version of The Bill) gave us the stupendously good looking Martina Colombari. Today’s WAG, Elisabetta Canalis is held in particularly high esteem, as she has had the honour of starring in both shows.

She has been romantically linked with Christian Vieri (who has also steamrollered Satta and Elena Santarelli), Didier Drogba and most recently Parma’s Brazilian striker Reginaldo.

Former Miss Italy enjoys footballers and constant nakedness

I have not actually seen the agreement a model must sign to become Miss Italy, but I can only assume there is a clause stipulating a compulsory relationship with a footballer. The pageant show has already given us Martina Colombari, Francesca Chillemi, Vincenza Cacace and Elisabetta Gregoraci, and now 1999 winner and nudity enthusiast Francesca Lodo joins their ranks. She has been engaged to Inter’s Javier Zanetti (despite the fact that she met his current wife in 1992) and she has also enjoyed the company of Francesco Coco - a self-professed ‘drugged-up gay who lives in nightclubs’ who has also steamrollered former WOTD Manuela Arcuri.

Playboy model who is currently enjoying a ‘cyber-romance’ with fugly Barcelona star

Leo Messi isn’t the most handsome sportsman in the world, but that hasn’t stopped him pursuing Playboy model and popular Argentinean media figure Luciana Salazar. The 27-year-old blonde is currently based in Buenos Aires, so with the exception of one phone call, their relationship has thus far blossomed exclusively online.

Apparently, Leo was planning dedicate a goal to her against Brazil last week with an ‘L for Luciana/loser’ hand salute. Unfortunately, that goal never happened, and Luciana and her ginormous chest remain un-saluted.

Italy continues to supply the best WAGs on the planet

Today’s WAG of the Day is another graduate of crazy Italian television show Striscia la notizia (‘Strip the News’) - a programme which has also blessed us with footballer eye candy including Melissa Satta and my favorutie WAG of the Day, Giorgia Palmas. Twenty-five-year-old Italian Elena Barola has stepped out with Filippo Inzaghi (who also imposed huge bank balance and status wonderful personality on Aída Yéspica) and more recently, she has been seen on the arm of Torino striker Roberto Stellone.

The ultimate European Championships dream team

Imagine spending a day in topsy-turvy world, where hot snow falls up and hamburgers eat people and Ronaldinho isn’t fat. In this magical land, the world’s finest WAGs would no longer be able to spend their time melting credit cards in exclusive boutiques or splashing around in the type of swimwear that your girlfriend would never wear in a million years. Instead, they’d have to graft it out on the football pitch, with Sepp Blatter constantly berating them about the length of their shorts.

The best nude model/ football agent/ Euro 2008 WAG out there

It appears that Nereida Gallardo isn’t the only Spanish WAG who will display her chemically-enhanced chest at the drop of a five Euro note. Today’s WAG of the Day is Nuria Bermúdez, one of Madrid’s most recognized ‘It’ girls who makes Danielle Lloyd’s impressive tally of footballer conquests look laughable.

In her prime, which appears to have begun not long after her fifteenth birthday, she boasted that she had slept with no less than six of Real Madrid’s first team. In addition, she claimed to have exchanged ‘raunchy texts’ with David Beckham and was sued by Luis Figo for suggesting he was two-timing his lovely model wife Helen Svedin with her. Interestingly, neither player ever denied the allegations.

As you may expect from any self-respecting lady who will happily remove her top on live television, she has served her time under C-Ron. During Euro 2008, however, the salacious wild child will be cheering on her new-ish husband, Spanish striker Dani Güiza.

First up is Anine Bing, partner of Sweden’s Anders Svensson. This Danish lovely was outlawed by Birmingham City Council, as residents of the nation’s second city kept crashing when they became transfixed by a steamy billboard campaign in which she featured. Don’t play it all cool - you spent the summer of 2003 dancing around your room to Superstar by Jamelia. Everyone did. Probably even Roy Keane, and he’s a tough guy. Not that there is any link between the two - oh no, she’s more of a lower leagues girl. The lucky gent using her long legs as giant hot water bottles is Darren Byfield. That’s right, the star striker who’s played for Gillingham, Millwall, Sunderland, Villa, Walsall, and, most recently, Bristol City.

If Imogen Thomas looks familiar, that’s because you watched her on television every single day for around three months in 2006 - she was a member of the classic Big Brother house, which featured other big names like… um… the, err, woman with the hair… and the, um, shouty bloke who won.
