Video: Argentinean midfielder suffers painful collision with linesman’s flag

Of all the ways of winning a free kick, pretending to be floored by a piece of cloth has to be the worst

In a recent  match between Corinthians and Palmeiras, (fat) Ronaldo managed to score his first Campeonato Brasileiro Série A goal in over 15 years.

This wasn’t the only historic event to take place during the game, however, as Argentinean midfielder Sergio Escudero became the first player stupid enough to pretend to be struck by a linesman’s flag. Quite what was going through his mind when he attempted this crappy bit of play-acting is anyone’s guess.

Drunk Brazilian fan falls from the stand during match

This guy should be on his sofa, not at the edge of a football stand

This video comes from the match between Brazilian outfits Palmeiras and Atletico-MG last weekend. Apparently, you cannot buy alcohol inside a football stadium in Sao Paulo which means this guy was completely wasted before he went in. Strangely, none of his fellow fans thought to move him away from the edge. Hopefully he can watch the video and be thankful he decided against a seat in the top tier of the stadium!

Liverpool WAG transfer news: Clancy out, Cavalieri in

Daniela Cavalieri

Despite having mental Spaniard Pepe Reina between the sticks, Liverpool recently forked out £3m to bring Brazilian shot stopper Diego Cavalieri from Palmeiras. The transfer makes much more sense when you consider his wife, Brazilian model Daniela Cavalieri, who will almost certainly prove a welcome addition to the Anfield WAG fraternity.

WAG No. 54: Laisa Andrioli

Denilson’s latest training partner shows talent on and off the field

Laisa Andrioli

If Ashley Cole is seeking advice on how to juggle women, he need look no further than Denilson (the one who used to play for Betis, not the Arsenal one.) Playing for Palmeiras, the Brazilian scored two goals against Bragantino last Sunday, and celebrated by making an ‘L’ shape with his hand. Far from being a ‘loser’ insult, 21-year-old Laisa Andrioli claimed it was actually a loving reference to her name. This angered on/off girlfriend Letícia Carlos, who had been “seeing [Denilson] and talking every day,” and who also laid claim to the ‘L’ dedication. Responding evasively, the Brazilian equivalent of Jermain Defoe casually said: “Next time there won’t be any L’s.”
