Colombian footballer who murdered a fan while drunk released from prison

Javier Florez buys his way out of chokey

Javier Florez

Atletico Junior’s Javier Florez was driving home from a defeat in Columbia’s Copa Mustang tournament in July when he was hassled by a group of fans. Instead of rising above their torments, the midfielder decided to let his gun do the talking. A 27-year-old electrician named Israel Campillo was murdered when he fired several shots at the group.

Florez surrendered himself to the police shortly after the incident, and admitted that he was drunk at the time. Despite admitting to a very heinous crime, the troubled star has been released from prison after paying 150m pesos ($75,000) to the victim’s family.

In addition to compensating the family, Florez had to pay a fine of just 1.5m pesos ($750) in order to get out of prison.

With such lenient punishments, is it any wonder that Colombia has a world-beating murder rate?

Which Premier League legend is facing a two-year prison sentence?

David Ginola could soon find himself behind bars

David Ginola

Despite openly proclaiming that he was a cheat who dived to win penalties, David Ginola was a much-loved cult figure of the Premier League during the 1990s. The skillful Frenchman, however, may soon face time in the slammer, as he has failed to use any of his L’Oréal commercial money to service child maintenance payments for a love child he had with a mistress. The Times report:

The case was brought by Joelle Pinquier, who says she had an affair with the footballer-turned-actor in the early 1990s and gave birth to Joy, his daughter, now aged 17.

Ginola, 42, who denies the allegations, faces a maximum sentence of two years in prison and a fine of 15,000 euros if found guilty. He is accused of failing to pay the full child maintenance of 450 euros a month set by a French court in 2006.

The trial has been postponed until December so that Madame Pinquier can submit evidence proving his paternity. Ginola’s lawyer dismissed the proceedings as “hot air”, probably while nonchalantly shrugging.

Ledley King cried and wet himself in prison cell

Spurs captain slays the dragon named Dignity

Ledley King

In the early hours of Sunday morning, professional sportsman Ledley King saw fit to launch an alleged alcohol-fuelled racist attack on a nightclub bouncer. For his troubles, he spent a night in a police cell, where, according to sources, he continued to proclaim his superiority over the rest of humanity through tearful eyes:

The drunk Spurs captain “cried and sobbed” in a police cell after trying in vain to get officers to let him go, it was said.

Two men being dealt with at the same station said the star alternately ranted and pleaded with the cops, bragging that he earned £83,000 a week.

They claimed the England ace - arrested after a nightclub row - shouted at the sergeant: “Boss man, boss man, I don’t deserve to be here - I’m rich.”

“Boss man”? Was Ledley locked up on the Green Mile or something?

One of the witnesses was also keen to stress that the Tottenham star lost control of his bodily functions

Former West Ham star writes autobiography in prison

Mark Ward makes good use of his time behind bars

Mark Ward

During a career that spanned through the eighties and nineties, Mark Ward notched up an enviable list of achievements: he played in Wembley cup finals, scored in Merseyside derbies for his hometown club Everton, and came within a few points of winning the league with the lauded West Ham team of 1986. Stuart Pearce once singled him out as the trickiest opponent he ever face, and after a game at Nottingham Forest, Brian Clough declared: “Take Ward to the [1986] World Cup.”

After being relieved of his duties as Altrincham player/manager in 2001, however, Ward’s fortunes took a turn for the worse. Playing in an era where professionals weren’t set up for life with ridiculous pay packages (his biggest contract earned him £2,000 per week), Ward was getting by on handouts and income support. After accepting an offer to rent out a house in his name and hand over the keys to a third party who would pay him a weekly wage, Ward found himself on the wrong side of the police, who raided the property

Vote: Should Joey Barton be allowed to play again?

Magpies continue to stand by vile waste of blood and organs

Yesterday, Roy Orbison-alike Joey Barton learned that the FA have served him with a fifteen match ban and a whopping fine of two weeks’ wages for the cowardly beating he dished out to former team-mate Ousmane Dabo. After returning from prison for the random attack on a sixteen year old lad (shown above), the FA were hoping that Newcastle would turn their back on their troubled investment, but KK and co have welcomed the disgraced midfielder back with open arms.

In most other professions, dishing out beatings, being over-zealous with cigars and getting banged up for violent crimes would be instant grounds for dismissal.

So, should Joey Barton’s disgusting behaviour have permanently disqualified him from taking home around £57,000 a week for a dream job, or should we be all forgiving and let the reformed little rapscallion have another chance at decking a colleague?

Votes and comments below please.

Good news everyone! Joey Barton is still in prison!

Newcastle thug made to serve a little more of his debt to society

Vile cretin Joey Barton was expecting to be released from the clink yesterday after serving just eight weeks of his six month prison sentence, given for dishing out the beating shown above. The disgraceful waste of space, however, will continue to drain taxpayers’ resources as probation chiefs did an eleventh hour U-turn on plans to let him go:

“[…] parole board chiefs have ruled he must serve at least half his sentence.

“Newcastle United midfielder Barton, jailed in May, now faces another month in Manchester’s Strangeways Prison before being eligible for release on August 13.”

The brainless moron will now be released no earlier than three days before Newcastle’sseason opener at Old Trafford. Let’s hope he never pulls on a black and white striped kit, or any other kit for that matter, again.

Video: CCTV footage of Joey Barton’s attack

Warning: contains strong images of a complete muppet

One of Joey ‘waste of blood and organs’ Barton’s victims in the video abovewas just sixteen, and was left with broken teeth. The Sun have today made the unsubstantiated claim that Newcastle have terminated his contract, and if the clubs in this country have any sense, they’ll make sure he isn’t employed as a professional footballer again.

Unfortunately for society, the unthinkably stupid and dangerous man is going to be back on the streets in a matter of days.

Joey Barton goes on holiday to a big horrible prison

Tough guy midfielder measured for denim

spoil-barton.jpg

Ahh, the race was on, and Barton won it. Every year, as soon as the Premier League season finishes, the players dash home, throw all of their stuff into a bag and zoom off to unwind somewhere lovely - the big question is who will get away first? And where the hell will they go?

Often they’ll head off to a dreamy beach hut or a luxury villa. But in the case of Newcastle United enforcer, Joey Barton, he’s chosen to spend his summer languishing behind bars wondering if it was really worth punching that teenager in the face outside McDonalds back in December. Chances are it wasn’t.
