Lucky Czechoslovakian NHL star Petr Nedved managed to persuade Victoria’s Secret supermodel Veronika Varekova to become his wife in 2004. Understandably, the ice hockey pro wanted to be near his wife in New York City, so in 2006 he requested a transfer to the Eastern Conference. Unfortunately, this proved to be the kiss of death for their relationship, as they separated. Soon after, Nedved’s career started to peter out and he returned to his home country in 2007, supermodel-less and alone.

If you ever caught an episode of the most popular television show of all time, you may have noticed a certain blonde lady who helped to defend humanity against the ocean. That blonde lady was probably the generously-constructed Pamela Anderson, but Gena Lee Nolin was also world renowned for her slow-motion running and ability to wear a red swimsuit.

These days, Gena is living with her third husband (her first marriage lasted a month and a day) Cale Hulse, a Canadian NHL star who hung up his puck and punching gloves in 2006.

Oksana isn’t the only hot Swedish WAG in town

Joining fellow puck bunnies Hilary Duff and Elisha Cuthbert today is Emma Andersson. Her brunette locks may suggest otherwise, but Emma is Swedish, and has forged a successful career in her homeland as a model, chef and TV personality. She is currently engaged to the Detroit Red Wings’ Henrik Zetterberg (whose lumberjack beard makes him unmistakably Swedish) and has moved from the land of saunas and affordable flat-pack furniture to Michigan, in order to be close to her man.

The terribly pretty ladies who find companionship with members of the National Hockey League are affectionately known in North America as ‘Puck Bunnies’, and the two leading individuals in this field are Elisha Cuthbert (Jack Bauer’s incredibly clumsy daughter in 24) and Hilary Duff. The latter is a multi-talented children’s TV star, pop singer and ‘entrepreneur’ who is rumoured to be engaged to New York Islanders star Mike Comrie.

North America’s most prolific ‘puck bunny’

On the other side of the pond, WAGs who like to snare their partners from the National Hockey League are known as ‘puck bunnies’, and the most celebrated of the pack is Canadian actress Elisha Cuthbert. According to the beauts at wagrankings.com, she grew up as a huge hockey fan and is currently a season ticket holder at the Los Angeles Kings. Her stick wielding scalps have included New York Rangers’ Sean Avery, Montreal Canadiens’ Mike Komisarek and she currently steps out with Calgary Flames defenceman Dion Phaneuf.
