Paddy Power already have a market up for next boss, intended to go live at 10pm tonight. Andy Burton has now reported it on Twitter (albeit after thespoiler broke it.)
Is this the end for Mr Orange? And how extraordinary does this make that vote of confidence yesterday?
For reasons that we have yet to establish at the time of writing, Harry Redknapphas shot to favourite in the next Premier League manager to go market. He is at 7/4, with Paul Hart languishing behind in the sack race at 3/1.
In the last hour, Paddy Power have stopped taking bets on his departure.
Has there been a fallout? Is it dangerously close to the annual date when Tottenham traditionally sack their manager? Or is this another Ribery/Benitez-style betting scam?
Is the Professor finally running out of time in north London?
Liverpool fans had every right to express disapproval at their team over the weekend, but the loudest boo boys were found elsewhere. Aston Villa, Hull and Newcastle fans all filled the air with negativity, but the loudest derisive sounds were heard at full time at The Emirates. Before 2009, Arsenal’s new stadium had never hosted a 0-0 league draw, but frustrated fans were made to witness their third consecutive goalless match.
After Arsenal’s humiliating defeat to Manchester City in November, many fans began to question the man who supposedly had the safest job in the Premier League, and now we are starting to hear similar grumbles. When Wenger’s predecessor Bruce Rioch failed to secure fourth spot in the Premier League, he was dismissed. Will the huge-brained Frenchman suffer the same fate, or will we see him at the Emirates for many seasons to come?
Is ‘Arry a stop gap appointment or a long term solution?
Almost exactly a year after Martin Jol was sent packing from the Lane, Tottenham seemed to make a good job of plugging the hole in their sinking ship by sacking Carling Cup winning boss Juande Ramos and appointing Harry Redknapp. While he is an excellent manager with experience of hoisting teams away from the danger zone, some may argue that he isn’t the man to fulfill Tottenham’s long term targets.
So, is he the type of manager who can lead another assault on the Big Four teams, or will the club end up trading him in for a ‘big name’ manager in a few years when they have (hopefully) regained some stability?
Put it his way: would Redknapp have been Daniel Levy’s number one target for moving the club into the higher echelons of the league when Jol was sacked? He says so in the press today, but plenty of highly-lauded foreign managers with silverware under their belts would probably have stood ahead of the former Portsmouth man.

Geordie Messiah’s managerial position is hanging by a thread. Again.
Following his ‘Premier League is boring‘ rant earlier this week, King Kev of Keegan has been summoned all the way down to ‘that London’ for ‘crunch talks‘ with Mike Ashley. The Geordie Messiah hasn’t had the best of seasons (winning just four of fifteen games in charge) and the rash manner in which Big Sam was dismissed exemplifies the club’s lack of patience in managerial matters.
So has the facegripping gaffer opened the door for little Dennis Wise to come downstairs, or is the fans’ favourite safe for another season? Votes and comments below, please.
As a Lampard-less Chelsea gifted two points to Wigan (and left my Betfair account emptier than Ashley Cole’s sense of morality), Avram Grant looked to be a man with far too much on his plate. Nipping on his heels as the next candidate to spend more time with the missus at weekends is mouthy Spaniard Rafa Benitez, whose threat to quit amid the boardroom shitstorm at Anfield should not be taken lightly.
So who will be next to go? It seems to be a two horse race between the Chelsea and Liverpool gaffers, but there’s always the threat of Arsene ‘Injustice’ Wenger calling time after a season of slow decay - could the Arsenal conspiracy theorists be right about his departure? And how about Fergie - he bottled retirement after a lukewarm season at Old Trafford a few years back, so why not go out on a high?
