Corinthians win Brazilian title, set fire to their captain

Brazilians demonstrate cavalier attitude to health and safety

Following a 1-1 draw with Santos on Sunday, Corinthians were delighted to win their thirty-first Sao Paolo State Championship.

To celebrate this hard-earned achievement, captain William took the trophy  - believed to have been modelled on a pimp cup - up on a crane so everyone in the stadium could get a good look. Unfortunately, the combination of streamers, ticker tape and open flames left the captain covered in a lot more fire than usual.

Fortunately, no one was hurt in the incident. However, (Fat) Ronaldo - who may or may not have been deemed too heavy to put on the crane - spoke out about the piss-poor safety standards:

“It was obvious that it was going to catch fire,” he told a news conference.

“They should have thought of something better.

“William could have been burned and, instead of celebrating, we could now be visiting him in hospital.”

“I lament the disorganisation,” added Ronaldo, who was surrounded by reporters and cameramen as the final whistle went.

“I didn’t have the chance to celebrate with our supporters, I kept getting hit by microphones.”

Video: The Street Style World Football Final

Showboaters gather in Sao Paolo to trash talk, drink each other’s milkshakes, max the envelope etc

Yesterday a young Frenchman named Arnaud Garnier beat 3,500 other freestylers to take home the Red Bull Street Style World Football Final. What, you mean you weren’t invited to participate?

In the video above, Russia and Jamaica duel it out in what showing off experts would consider fairly rudimentary. Lord only knows what kind of skills would impress them…

Adriano finds new ways to wreck his career

Brazilian star leaves trail of destruction across Sao Paolo

Adriano

Inter Milan’s troubled Brazilian Adriano, whom they farmed out on loan to Sao Paolo so that someone else could clean up after him, could find himself shipped back to Milan following 48 hours spent leaning on the self-destruct button.

Adriano’s problems started last Thursday when he was the only player to get off the plane following his team’s return from a Copa Libertadores match in Colombia not wearing Sao Paolo’s official travel uniform, the kind of detail capable of setting the Brazilian public a-twitter. This earnt him a public reprimand from club president Juvencio Juvenal, although officials later claimed he had been given permission to change as he had “been sweating a lot”.

The following day he turned up for training half an hour late, promptly fell out with the fitness coaches and stormed off, although not before stopping to share this thought - “If you take another picture I’ll smash you in the face” - with a photographer.

Early the next day,
