Manchester Utd to bid for Ibrahimovic, Sunderland make £11m Crouch offer

The latest transfer rumours, gossip and damned lies

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Manchester Utd

A report in this morning’s Mirror suggests that Manchester Utd will give the Swedish striker the chance to be anonymous in big games play in the Premiership next season. Are they trying to say that Michael Owen can’t be relied upon to bang in 30 goals in 2009/10?

The Spoiler truth-o-meter: United could do with a ‘box office’ signing this summer, but Ibrahimovic’s agent has implied that the Inter star will cost the club more than the £80m they recouped for Cristiano Ronaldo. In the real world though, he would probably cost around £30m.

Sebastien Bassong to Arsenal
The French defender admits that he has been approached by the Gunners in today’s Daily Mail, but insists that “nothing is concrete”. Spurs and Manchester City are also linked with the 22-year-old, but that’s probably because they’re linked with absolutely everyone.

Bassong on his way to north London, AC Milan confirm interest in Adebayor

The latest transfer gossip, rumours and damned lies

Emmanuel Adebayor

Emmanuel Adebayor to AC Milan

Manu has been touting himself to the Rossoneri for bloody ages, and has moved a step closer to his Beyonce-inspired dream following comments from Milan club administrator Adriano Galliani. The Uncle fester-alike could go for the Togo hitman if a move for Bundesliga top scorer Edin Dzeko falls through:

“If we fail to get Dzeko then (Sevilla striker) Luis Fabiano could be an alternative - as could Adebayor.”

The Spoiler truth-o-meter: Wolfsburg will be very reluctant to part with Dzeko, and Arsenal fans won’t exactly cry themselves to sleep if Adebayor leaves, so this move could be on.

Sebastien Bassong to Arsenal. Or maybe Tottenham.
The Newcastle Evening Chronicle claim the Toon defender has been flattered by interest from Arsene Wenger. Confusingly, Goal.com reference the report in the local paper, but instead claim that Harry Redknapp is ahead of the pack in chasing the Cameroonian.

The Spoiler truth-o-meter: Even though we’re

Spurs may sell two strikers to buy one, Aston Villa linked with Newcastle defender

The latest transfer gossip, rumours and damned lies

Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones

Harry Redknapp plans to shuffle his striking options
The Daily Mirror are reporting that Redknapp is ready to sell Darren Bent and Roman Pavlyuchenko, scorers of a combined 29 goals this season, and replace them with Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones.

The Spoiler Truth-o-meter: Bent may go but Redknapp is unlikely to axe Pavlyuchenko after a respectable first season.

Sebastien Bassong to Aston Villa
Aston Villa’s haven’t looked anywhere near as solid at the back since Martin Laursen injured his knee in January so they may target Newcastle defender Bassong in the summer.

The Spoiler Truth-o-meter: Newcastle may struggle to keep Bassong even if they survive and he would stand more chance of breaking into Villa’s first team than Arsenal’s.

Edison Cavani to West Ham
There are only about ten youngsters playing in Italy who haven’t been linked with a move to West Ham this season. Palermo’s Uruguayan striker Cavani is reportedly the latest player to intrigue Gianluca Nani.

The Spoiler Truth-o-meter: 33-year-old duo David Di Michele and Diego Tristan are currently leading the Hammers’ line so an injection of youth wouldn’t go amiss.
