The Spoiler

Was King Kev right to bring Joey Barton on at the Emirates?

Disgraced violent criminal rewarded with Premiership appearance

Joey Barton

Joey Barton’s controversial return to football has been much discussed (with 62 per cent of Spoiler readers believing he should never be allowed to play again), and this weekend we were finally treated to the return of the former Strangeways resident. His brief and aggressive post-slammer debut, however, was not as troubling as Kevin Keegan’s post-match comments:

“He’s going to have to play somewhere.”

Mr Keegan, you may have problems with the depth of the Newcastle squad, but does Barton really have to play somewhere? Does he automatically deserve a career at a top club because of his talent, regardless of his abhorrent extra-curricular activities?

Vote: Should Joey Barton be allowed to play again?

Magpies continue to stand by vile waste of blood and organs

Yesterday, Roy Orbison-alike Joey Barton learned that the FA have served him with a fifteen match ban and a whopping fine of two weeks’ wages for the cowardly beating he dished out to former team-mate Ousmane Dabo. After returning from prison for the random attack on a sixteen year old lad (shown above), the FA were hoping that Newcastle would turn their back on their troubled investment, but KK and co have welcomed the disgraced midfielder back with open arms.

In most other professions, dishing out beatings, being over-zealous with cigars and getting banged up for violent crimes would be instant grounds for dismissal.

So, should Joey Barton’s disgusting behaviour have permanently disqualified him from taking home around £57,000 a week for a dream job, or should we be all forgiving and let the reformed little rapscallion have another chance at decking a colleague?

Votes and comments below please.

Video: CCTV footage of Joey Barton’s attack

Warning: contains strong images of a complete muppet

One of Joey ‘waste of blood and organs’ Barton’s victims in the video abovewas just sixteen, and was left with broken teeth. The Sun have today made the unsubstantiated claim that Newcastle have terminated his contract, and if the clubs in this country have any sense, they’ll make sure he isn’t employed as a professional footballer again.

Unfortunately for society, the unthinkably stupid and dangerous man is going to be back on the streets in a matter of days.
