UEFA have been playing with the crazy pots again

The good officials of the Champions League gathered around the trough in Monaco this afternoon, pausing briefly to pompously remove some plastic footballs from mixing bowls in one of their favourite little rituals.

As per, various pundits and sundry authorities were on hand to discuss the mouth-watering nature of the dance card, while those associated with the managerial side of things vowed not to underestimate anybody, as decreed by UEFA’s guidelines on how to talk to the press at times such as this.

Spurs fans believe they will be better off without Keane


Well, 40 per cent of them do…

Liverpool Daisy Chain of fun

Most people would struggle to see how a team could possibly be better off without a young striker who is capable of putting away 20+ goals a season, but according to a poll run by The Spoiler yesterday, over 40 per cent of Tottenham fans believe the future is brighter without the tiny Irishman.

The White hart Lane faithful posted their views on the subject, and many feel it is a blessing in disguise that Keane is now forming daisy chains with Fernando Torres et al.

Some said they didn’t like his style of play (he is a ball hogger, not an out-and-out striker) while others condemned his lack of commitment to the club (”I love it here and I would like to finish my career here,” he said just a few weeks ago).

The last time Rangers played in a proper European final, in Barcelona against Dynamo Moscow in 1972, General Franco was still directing policing operations in Spain. Unfortunately for the old fascist, his forces of law and order found Rangers fans in a boisterous mood, as they celebrated their win by joining the players on the pitch before the game was over. The truncheons of the fat-bellied Guardia Civil were no match for the granite-headed protestants, and the soundly thrashed police were forced to beat a humiliating retreat, thus guaranteeing a warm welcome for all Scots in Barcelona for years to come.
